The big day is almost here. The long wait is almost over… wait, what? Christmas? We’re not talking about Christmas. We are so excited for Opening Day at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari! We can’t wait to ride the Thunderbird and glide around the lazy river, so it’s a good thing Opening Day is just around the corner. This incredible park, just a mile up the road from the gates of Christmas Lake Village, is a favorite with locals and visitors alike. And while Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is consistently a safe, clean, and family-friendly park, there are new and exciting changes each year. Shopping homes for sale in Christmas Lake Village? A big perk is our proximity to this world-famous amusement park. Grab your beach towel and the sunscreen – here’s some information to get you ready for Opening Day on April 29, 2017.

A small little amusement park called Santa Claus Land opened its doors on August 3, 1946. As the world’s first theme park, it featured toys, a train, a restaurant, and, of course, Santa Claus. In 1984, Santa Claus Land expanded (adding Halloween and 4th of July sections) and the park was renamed Holiday World. In 1993, the Splashin’ Safari Water Park was added. Today, the park’s 125 acres are home to award-winning roller coasters and water coasters, water slides, splash pads, giant swings, tasty food, challenging games, and much more.

As always, there are a host of perks throughout the park that make Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari uniquely suited to families. Parking is free. Soft drinks are unlimited and provided free of charge. There are stations throughout the water park offering free sunscreen. Even Wi-fi is free!

This year, the park is also offering “Pick Your Price” ticket discounts, a great feature especially suited for families on a budget. A quick visit to the Holiday World website (www.holidayworld.com) will direct you to a link that allows you to peruse the calendar and select a date and deal that works best for you. Some tickets are discounted by as much as $20 each, depending on the day. It’s a wonderful new opportunity and very easy to navigate.

If you live in Santa Claus or the surrounding area, you may want to purchase a Season Pass, which will allow you to pop over for a visit whenever you have some free time. You can spend an hour or two with the kids at the wave pool or lazy river on a hot summer day. Or maybe you just want to take a spin on the Voyage, one of the nation’s top wooden roller coasters. A pass may be just the ticket for your family this summer and fall. There are several purchase options here as well, which feature different price points and pluses. Visit http://www.holidayworld.com/ticket-options/season-passes/ for more information.

Once you’re in the park, you’ll be able to enjoy a new ride this year, located in the 4th of July section.  Holiday World’s newest addition, the Firecracker, will be ready to pop in a few days. According to Holiday World’s website, the Firecracker is “a classic Calypso ride, one of only a handful still in operation in North America.”

After you’ve taken a few spins on the Firecracker, or enjoyed a wild ride on the Raven roller coaster, you’ll be ready to consider some food. The park has a huge selection of food, including classics such as corn dogs, burgers, pizza, and ice cream. New offerings this year include Dole Whip Cotton Candy… yum! Are you Gluten-Free or looking for an Allergen-friendly menu? There are plenty of tasty treats for you too. Check out the dining guide online at http://www.holidayworld.com/park-tickets/food-snacks/.

There is so much to do at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, we just can’t cover it all in one post. But we do want to include a few tips, for residents and visitors, prior to hopping in the car and enjoying at day at the park.
